"書香世代 - A Home Imbued with the Perfume of Books" with Oi Ling Chiang
The exhibition focuses on the dispersion and disappearance of Chinese rare books. Highlights of the exhibition include important Shanben (善本書) such as the 24-standard history books with handwritten commentary by Mr. Chen Yuan (陳垣), one of the most important sinologists of the early 20th century who specialized in the history of the Yuan dynasty and the development of various imported religions in China and whose students include Qigong (啟功) and Bai Shou Yi (白壽彝). On display will also be books from the Ming and Qing imperial collections as well as books collated by important scholars such as Wang Shou Shen (王綬珊), Huang Pi Lie (黄丕烈), Wang Xian Qian (王先謙), Xun Dai Rang (孫詒讓) and Yu Yue (榆越) of the Qing dynasty.

Oi Ling Chiang is an acknowledged expert in Chinese antiquities, having been called upon by the likes of Christie's and Sotheby's for expert opinion and featured on CNN and in numerous press articles. She is a member of the prestigious Syndicat National des Antiquaires (SNA) of France. She has been featured in numerous television, newspaper and magazine articles, and has published several texts on Chinese antiquities. She regularly publishes catalogues which go hand in hand with exhibitions held in the main gallery. For this exhibition, Oi Ling will present a talk on the history of printing in ancient China.
